What a gorgeous girl you are!! I wish Heidi could sit pretty. The couple times I tried she feel over on her back. We need to work on balance. What kind of dog is Freckles? Shes one cutie! Thanks for sharing!

Freckles is a Catahoula Leopard Dog/Black Lab mix. It took her awhile to get sit pretty down too. Just keep working with her. =)

When you got Freckles you said she was lab/ aussie. You said "You know, that is exactly what I thought in the beginning and looking at her dad I thought for sure he was a Catahoula! But the owner insisted he was lab/aussie. I know there is Aussie in there for sure, as I saw the other puppies in Freckles litter. There were long haired blue eyed red and blue merles, some looked purebred, though they weren't."

I asked several different breeders of Cats, and yes she most definitely has Catahoula in her. My FIRST thought was Catahoula, but the lady insisted the dad was Aussie/lab as that is what the vet told her. Upon furthur research it's only obvious she has Catahoula in her. Plus, there are some purebred Catties that look identical to Freckles. So yes, that is what she is. Catahoula/Lab

Isn't it more likely that, assuming she has catahoula in her, she is lab/aussie/catahoula, since the father has too long of hair and a different body structure than a catahoula, and there were longhaired pups in the litter?

She's a cutie pie. She reminds me so much of my first doggie love, an Australian shepherd/German shorthair pointer mix named Tripper. He was marked just like her but had a docked tail and a dudley nose.

Actually the father's hair isn't long at all. It's actually very short and dense, like Freckles fur. I honestly don't think they have Aussie in them. After studying Catahoula pup pictures it's obvious they weren't mixed with Aussie. They were more fluffy, not long coated. I have pics of the other pups somewhere. All had short hair though when they were older, so I'm pretty confident they were Catty mixes. They had markings just like Catahoulas and some with the iced eyes. So beautiful!

I agree Jordan, She does look like a lab/aussie....

You can definitely see the lab, but I don't see any Catahoula.
