Yes it has to be a female and not because of SAR work. They have a male now (Dixie's Brother) and they do not want two males in the house. I don't think they will be attempting to replace Aunt Jazz as much as trying to find the perfect puppy who has a high drive and stamina for the kind of work that is required in Search and Rescue. The best of these dogs have such a high working drive it is wonderful to see them work! They are not content to just be a pet. I guess that is why they have not been able to talk me into learning more about SAR. I love having obedient pets and showing as a hobby! LOL SAR work is very intense.Originally posted by momoffuzzyfaces
Gosh, I too, hope you get a female. Does it have to be a female? Forgive the dumb question. I don't know the requirments for a SR dog. I've thought about Kathi and Bob a lot and hoped they were doing ok. I just thought maybe a male would be easier for Bob to deal with. It wouldn't be like trying to replace Aunt Jazz.
Please keep us posted. You are all still in my prayers.
I appreciate your question because I personally do not feel there is such a thing as a dumb question.
Mugsy,
I think Bob and Kathi are as hooked on Goldens as I am. I really don't see them getting a rescue UNLESS it's a Golden who fits the temperment necessary for intense SAR work.
