I so GLAD that your package arrived and that the kitties liked their gift!! catlady1945 is correct that the catnip is something you can sprinkle over the cardboard to encourage them to scratch, but they usually don't need any help This was the first toy we bought Emily and Eliot and it is still a favorite of ALL the kitties.
