I, too, cannot sleep when they are not in bed. We have outside cats (neighbors', strays, etc.) that come around at night, and I've woken up once too often to hear cat screaming and yowling because the outside ones antagonize my two inside, and then the inside ones take it out on each other since they can't get at the ones outside. It is unacceptable when this happens, and I find tufts of fur all over the carpet in the morning. So when they are in bed with me, I know they are safe and not attacking each other. Tubby has slept with me for the last 15 years so I wouldn't dream of kicking him out. Peanut will crawl in when we first go to bed, but then when I wake up she is gone so she obviously leaves sometime during the night, but being the dainty little girl, she doesn't bother her mom a bit when she leaves. Tubby sleeps on my left, down by my feet, and Peanut sleeps on my right, by my hips. I've already woken up and been "locked" in where I can't move at all without disturbing them. And I couldn't do that!
