A friend of mine's brother in law just died, he had a lung transplant a few years back...I think maybe 8 but I am not sure. The amount of meds they need to keep the lung from rejecting is really scary, plus the lungs don't last and need to be tranplanted after some years, the permanent outlook is usually not good.
