Sorry Slick, had to get caught up on some of the other threads that I've been neglecting.
Well, the news continues to be good - although not great. I would say we're progressing by baby steps, not leaps and bounds as I had hoped, but you know? Baby steps are just FINE with me!
The only thing he's really not doing is eating (well, and pooping which goes along with eating). I tried to get him to eat some more last night. Since he went for the beef stuff earlier, I offered that again. He sniffed and turned up his nose. But I said too bad so sad, Tubby, I'm NOT taking no for an answer. So since this stuff is really just liquid mush, I went and got the syringe out, sucked some into the syringe then just shot it down Tubby's throat! Needless to say he wasn't happy about that, but that's just too bad! I got maybe a teaspoon's worth in him, then figured that was enough since I don't want him throwing it all up right away.
Then this morning, since he rejected the beef last night, I offered him another turkey stick, but nope - no go. Soooooo.....pry those little kitty lips open and down the hatch it was! Again he wasn't too happy about it, but that's just too bad. And of course, little nurse Peanut was right there to help clean up any leftovers.
She's loving all these wonderful treats!
But, the good news is that after I (force) fed him, he sat up for awhile - yes sat UP, then headed over to the back windows to check out the backyard!!!! He only took a few glances out back, then headed back into the living room and laid down for a rest, but I was jumping up and down from excitement! That is the most interest he's showed in anything since last Wednesday! He is so much less wobbly than he was, but is still not as sure footed as I'd like, but I'm sure that will come as he gets more nourishment in him - which will happen, one way or the other.
And he was awake and alert the whole time I was getting ready for work and even watched me leave.
I talked to Terry about 10 minutes ago, and Tubby is resting comfortably in a spot that the sun should be hitting any minute now.
Also, there's been a change in plans. Terry didn't think it was right to haul Tubby half way across the country when he was so sick. I thought it was important to go to Denver because of his Dad, but he didn't think it was right, so we're not going. I'm relieved because it was quite stressful for me to have to figure out everything I needed to take and to worry about Tubby in the car and in a strange place and all that, and then what if something happened to Tubby along the way. I still feel we should go because of Terry's dad, but if Terry doesn't want to go, I can't force him. So instead we will be heading to my parents in Wisconsin, but just for Thanksgiving day. I can give Tubby all his meds in the morning, then we'll leave, and we'll be back in the evening for his evening meds.
Aaannnyyywwaaaayyy....things are going good. Small improvements everyday. Oh, and another thing with not going to Denver is now I can follow the vet's orders and bring Tubby in next Saturday for a follow-up.
Thank you all for your continuing support, it means so much. And Tracey, don't worry about missing all this because I know you were pre-occupied with everything that Storm has been going through. I can totally relate to what you're going through.
