I really like your suggestion, Frostfrog! Wish I could convince my hubby to go along with it but I know that won't happen. We just remodeled our den and vaulted the ceiling, added skylights and I want to put a catwalk along the high wall but I don't think I will get my (and the cat's!!!) desire. They have cat trees, but a catwalk would be spectacular!!! I will keep badgering him.
