I think I've brought this up somewhere before,
but Buddy's vet routinely suggests the anal gland
removal in all dogs he spays or neuters. Since they
are already asleep. He explained that the anal gland
is much like the appendix in humans. A vestive gland
that's no longer really used by the dog. It is also a
prime site for infection in most dogs. They never miss
it & recovery time is minimal. Would you consider that
for Reese if your vet does the surgery ?
Buddy had it done years ago when he was neutered
and now I'm glad I took the vet's advice. Liz.
