Thank you! I am a 26 year old woman and voted for Bush in 2000 AND yesterday. I fail to see where I've lost any rights.Originally posted by Logan
I have a simple question for you, Popcornbird, and Valerie. What rights have we lost in the last four years? I'm a female too and I just don't see it. What do you think he's going to do in the next 4 years that he didn't do in the first four that is going to take away our rights? A President is a figurehead, but without the support of the Congress, he can't do anything on his own. Right?
Move to Maryland. I'm serious. If what you're saying is commonplace in Florida, it is exactly opposite up here. My polling place is a school gymnasium and yesterday going into vote, I was told to cover the small 1" crucifix I wear around my neck. Ridiculous!Originally posted by Kfamr
What about the rights of those of us who have no religious beliefs.. and how religious beliefs of others are being shoved down our throats and in front of living our lives???
I'm starting to believe seperation of church and state is just a big ole joke.
Up here, parents fight to have script changes in any plays that make mention of the word "God" - no matter what the context is. Choral concerts at Christmastime now consist solely of non-religious songs. My (Jewish) chorus teacher from high school got in tons of trouble for having us sing a beautiful Italian song called "Jesu Bambino" AND a Jewish Hannukah song! In my school, it was a 75+ year tradition for us to sing the Hallelujah Chorus at the winter concert... not any more.
So move up here. Up here, you will be quite happy to have all your rights catered to while mine are trampled on.
