Oh Kari, I'm so very sorry for your loss. It's so difficult to see our furbabies sick and suffering But she was so blessed to have you there by her side, holding and caressing her during her final minutes. Thanks again, everyone, for posting about Luli. It hurt more to see her laying in her cage the other night, not moving than it did to actually realize she'd died overnight. Because I had a few hours to realize she wasn't going to make it. I did most of my crying with her nose next to my cheek. I'm just glad I was able to sit and hold her for as long as I did. She died (I hope) comfortably in her cage, surrounded by nice clean warm blankets.

Oh, and, I did want to say that Finn did really well. He always tried to jump and grab her from my hands if I was holding her, just because he wants everything you have in your hands. He did that the other night, as usual, when I took her from her cage. But, when he realized that something was different, he was a different dog. It was amazing, and, it's actually what made me start crying the hardest. I was on the couch, with my feet on the coffee table. Luli was laying in my lap. Finn sat on the floor and rested his head on my lap or about an hour and a half, while I tried to give Luli some water. His nose was only a few inches from her, and, he just watched. He would look up at me every now and then, but, mostly just watched her. It was amazing, but, I think he sensed she was sick.
