She should be able to find an excellent pet stain remover at Petsmart or Petco. These products are designed for just this problem. I doubt that just steam cleaning the area will do it - I've tried when I 've had this kind of problem. She should use vinegar on the places other than the carpet to get that smell out. I know what she's going through - I had new born kittens last Feb in a bedroom - the new babies peed all over and I did end up replacing the carpet - but it needed it anyway. I did paint the floor before I had the new carpet installed. Tell her good luck for me!!!
