Well, since my dogs are usually the ones to pick me out, I have no idea what I'll come home with next. I am going to start fostering for Shar Pei rescue in a few months, so maybe my next will be a Shar Pei. Who knows

There are two with mange that just totally broke my heart.

    Paco
    Dog
    Shar Pei

    Size: Medium
    Age: Adult
    Sex: Male
    I.D: Abilene

Notes: Someone told Paco that he was invited to a costume party, so he was going to go as Sphynx cat, you know the furless variety? However, it was not a party he was dropped off at, his owner surrendered him to rescue. Paco needs a good home that can see through his "costume" and imagine the handsome dog he will be after a little extra attention and a few extra baths. He is a wonderful dog; perfectly behaved around children and other dogs. He is playful and he is house trained. Paco just needs a permanent party in his honor to attend forever. He will dress as himself this time and grow his fur back!

    Bagabon
    Dog
    Shar Pei

    Size: Medium
    Age: Adult
    Sex: Female
    I.D: Houston

Notes: What’s a girl to do?? Some days just are not good hair days…and believe me before NASPR found me that was the least of my worries. The long days and lonely nights on the street depleted my health, my beauty and just when my spirit was starting to give out my guardian angels arrived. When animal control picked me up I thought…“Who cares!“…then this volunteer came to the shelter from Rescue and looked past the way I smelled, the fact that I was about 50% bald, malnourished, and that my nails were so long I could barely walk w/o pain. It had been a very long time since I had felt the kindness of a human but she bent down in front of me, loved on me, told me how beautiful I was and that everything was going to be ok. …and I am starting to believe her. Then another rescue worker delivered me to the vet’s office and he checked me out. I overheard him talking to someone telling them I was underweight, malnourished, had demodex, worms, and tested positive for heartworms. He said I was in bad shape and my recovery would take time, patience, lots of love and medical attention. After the vet and a brief stay at the NASPR shelter …they loaded me up again and imagine my surprise when I saw the very first volunteer again. Seems that she is going to be my foster mom until I am healthy and ready for my forever family. If you think you might be that family…please keep checking on my progress. They named me Miss Bagabon, but those close to me call me “Baggie”. NOTE: Miss Bagabon has been treated for worms, has been spayed, is currently being treated for demodex and once she is strong enough will be treated for heartworms. She is remarkably affectionate and open to people considering the condition she was found in. She is well socialized to children and other dogs. She crates w/o issue, and will respect gated boundaries. Although she does not have accidents in her given areas and will let you know when she needs to go, if left to roam the house freely she will potty in the house. We will continue with “Baggie’s” training and medical care. If you have room in your heart for this gorgeous lady I feel certain she will reward you with years of devoted companionship. “Baggie” is one of many Shar-Pei in NASPR’s care that require medical attention. If you have room in your heart but not in your home please donate towards those needs.
