Hey Purrley, good to hear from you. Don't feel guilty. I've "swatted" Buffy with a rolled up newspaper on her butt. It makes a lot of noise and it doesn't hurt her. They are a very smart breed and learn very fast what's acceptable or not.

Buffy kept jumping on top of my dining room table, which is made of cherrywood oak and very expensive. For such a tiny little thing she can jump pretty high. I kept telling her "Buffy, down!" but every chance she got she jumped on it. Now I know she knows the "down" command because she sure as hell listens to it when I have food in my hands. I worried about her scratching the table with her nails.

One day I caught her laying on it and gave the command; she totally ignored me. I got 2 or 3 sheets of newspaper, rolled them up and wacked her on her butt, which you know makes a loud sound. She got off the table really fast. Would you believe she has not been on it again? Whenever I see that she's tempted, all I have to say is "don't even think about it!"...I really think all 3 of my dogs know what that sentence means since it stops them on their tracks.

P.S.: any pics yet?
