That is also a good point. I know my own Mom had many other depressing/stressful factors going on in her life when she had her first child, my sister. I am sure a lot of that contributed to her severe PPD. She was very young, in an impulsive marriage that when she looked back, she felt she got married in order to escape her miserable family life. She ended up at home alone all day at 18 with a husband who she felt she couldn't talk to or share her feelings and problems with. All of these things combined with the PPD I'm sure made it much more intense than "normal."Originally posted by Cataholic
PPD of this magnitude strikes something like 4% of the population. It isn't the majority.
