This reminds me of when in a baracks I was living in, the hot water pipe leaked on to the sensor and set the fire alarm off at 3 am! Ugh, we had to stand outside for three hours while they checked for leaks and stuff. We got no sleep that night! You must have a sensitive smoke detector if the hot water steam set it off! Well now you know it works and in case of fire, you are safe!
