LorraineO, kudos for you for being so honest. Frankly, I didn't feel a connection with Lefty right away either. It actually took a couple of weeks for me, and there were times when I was afraid we hadn't done the right thing. (Though since we'd already made the step, I was going to see it through. I believed we really were Lefty's last chance.) Luckily, things have worked out. Just a half hour ago my husband and I were saying we couldn't imagine life without him. He's got his flaws, but he's part of our family now and we're happy that that's the case.

You haven't gotten to the "point of no return." You have time to change your mind if you feel it's the right thing to do. Is there any way you could keep her for a little longer, if tomorrow arrives and you're still not sure?
