We got home and went inside. All six of them were anxiously waiting at the door for us. I opened the door and almost went deaf from all of the commotion. Spencer just smiled at me and Frieda.
“Okay everyone, back off for a while.” Frieda said, laughing. She ushered all the kids into Erica’s room and the living room was once again quiet.
“So, who are these guys?” Spencer asked.
“Simone and Joey.” I said proudly. I smiled for the first time in days and Spencer smiled back.
“Congratulations.” He said. Frieda smiled at me and left the room. Since I was staying in their spare room, I took them to their cribs. Spencer followed. I put them each in their cribs. I sat on my bed and looked at the room. It looked like a little home all in itself. Frieda had a small refrigerator put in the corner that had the formula and even a few things for me when the kids woke up in the middle of the night.
“Things are going to get pretty crazy around here now.” I said.
“Don’t worry about it. It’s been worse. I got myself a job now that school’s out to help support us all.” He said, smiling.
