I'm glad it was nothing serious.

Try to enjoy Katie as much as you can. I used to feel much the same way you do--hating watching them age, but having recently lost a very young dog, I'm learning to savor it--it brings it's own pleasures. I try not to think of it in terms of getting closer to loosing them. I'd give anything to be able to watch Hoodoo grow from a rambunctious young dog to a dignified gentleman, but I will never have that opportunity.
