Thanks everybody. I think it's more that he thinks people are invading his territory. And my younger brother still lives there and they do not get along, so it's only my mom and dad that are allowed to adore him up close. Everyone else can ooh and aah and him, but from a distance if you please.

Catnapper, yes, I like that "carpet" too. My mom made that when we first moved in the house 32 years ago. I don't remember for sure, but I think the original is gone and this is the second one? But you're right, something goes wrong, rip it out and replace it. I think it would be the perfect carpert for cat puke.
