I know it sounds horrible, but I still eat sugar stuff I know I shouldn't. I just make "room for it" in my diet (go low on carbs and fat if I want a piece of cake after dinner, etc.).

*Sigh* but lately I've been being really bad and just doing the "see food" thing. And I haven't checked my blood sugar in two years since I moved to the city I am in. However, I do get my blood tested once every three months and all my levels, sugars, cholesterol, etc. always seem ok.

One of the biggest things is drinks. That was the easiest thing for me to cut out. Sweet tea, full sugar sodas, juices, alcohol. You just don't realize how much sugar you are drinking, and it's worse cause it jacks up your blood sugar so fast. Now I drink unsweetened iced tea and water. Diet sodas give me the shivers, I can't stand the fake sweeteners.

Good luck to all of you! I know you'll get the hang of the diet and it'll turn out just fine. It just takes time...It's been almost 4 years for me and I am still getting used to it, but after the first year, it really wasn't so bad.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, do your docs have you on any meds? I am on 800mg of Glucophage twice a day and it worked wonders bringing my sugars down.
