Thanks so much everyone.
Now you all know what I mean, though, by all the white on white....and the white carpeting - ugh! Just this morning I've got two new puke stains to clean.
I do like that the white gives it a bright airy feeling, but it's all just a little too much for my taste.
Terry is the original owner of the house, so he's the one that picked the cherrywood cabinets and he did good if I do say so myself. There are other homes in the complex I've been in and a lot of them have the white kitchens because that's what was really "in" in the early 90's when these were built. Thank goodness Terry didn't like white cabinets or I might just go mad with all the white!
Catnapper - great idea, I love it! Quite a few times we've gone looking for a nice desk for Terry and some file cabinets and such, but what it came down to is that he has his own way of organizing things. Doesn't matter if he cleaned it up, in a month or so it would look like this again because that's just how he works. I told him to let me clean it up and to have a dumpster on hand for when I did, but that idea went over like a lead balloon....just like it does when I make the same offer to my boss.
Pops, yes the loft is all that's upstairs. This unit is consider a "ranch" style, so the master suite is on the first floor (very desirable option by the way). Terry could have had a bedroom put in upstairs instead of the family room that he has, but the guest bedroom is downstairs and he didn't feel he needed 3 bedrooms. There is a bathroom up there (completely forgot to take a pic of that) and if you look at his office, can you picture a closet with folding doors? That's what the floor plan called for. But no bedroom so no need for a closet and a great need for an office - walla!
Logan - no, no doggies.
Terry said that when he built the place he had no intention of ever having any animals living in it. So I guess I was pretty special since he made accomodations for T & P. He does get quite upset when they puke on the carpeting but I've got puke cleaning up down to a science.
Which brings me to Rose - yes! Puke or dirt colored carpeting! I want some and I want it now!!!
As I mentioned, Terry's the one that picked everything out while the house was being built. Of course he had help from his ex-wife, but overall I think he did a fantastic job. There are certain criteria that I require in a home (lots of light, facing south, etc.) and he seemed to have all the same criteria. It really is a beautiful house and I love the backyard and the privacy. Our backyard looks out to a fence that separates us from a light industrial park. Others in the complex look out into each others backyards and living rooms, so they almost MUST have some sort of window treatment on the big windows - I would hate that.
And one last thing, Catlover - you reminded me that I forgot to post a pic of our home away from home. The one toy that doesn't fit in the toybox.
And a quick inside shot.
Thanks again everyone.
