I have heard of cats (and dogs) doing heroic things. Personally, I feel that if I ever collapsed and died, my little angels would eat me.

By the way, I had cats before I had children, and I was never afraid of the cats doing something to the babies. Although, at night I did close the door to the childrens' room.
