Chocolate is fine for rats, in small amounts. It acts as a bronchio-dilator and helps rats in respiratory distress breath a little easier. So it's perfectly fine in small amounts. If you give too much though, it's a cardio-stimulator meaning the rat will have a heart attack, but you need a lot to cause that to happen. It's not poisonous like it is dogs.
