I just want to add that if you feed purina one or purina pro plan it MAY have something to do w/ urinary infections.
Long story but I used to feed it as well as many people I know & some I met along the way (talking to people in pet stores on the net etc...). For some odd reason a lot of dogs had urinary infections while on that food. It is not proven but quite weird that many many many dogs I have know & heard about had infections on & off while on that food then they all went away when their food was switched. Some dogs were on it for years & had uti's & the like ever since they were on it, some it was on & offf, some developed them later on. But everyone so far they have all stopped since they stopped feeding that food.
Not sure about now as I really have not discussed it in about a year but for about 6 years prior to that it was still happening!
My dog in particular Raustyk was on it for 3.5 years she had utis all the time, anal gland problems so bad the vets really wanted to remove them, ear infections & a weird rash on her belly. This lasted the entire 3.5 years wile on proplan . she had all sorts of meds some worked some didn't but everytime a med did work & she was done w/ the meds it would always come back and soon too. She was testd for allergies for her ear infections & rash & it came back as she was not allergic to anything. What is weird is that last year I ran out of dog food & could not get to the pet store so I picked up a bag of walmart max. nutrition (which has the same ingedients as proplan & purina one) and the uti came back in 5 days & her ears started to get infected & few red bumps popped back up on her tummy. I stopped that food right away & the symptoms were gone in a few days!! My other dog Nanook was also on it & he never had a problem.
Like I said it is not a proven fact & actually I found the ingredients to be semi decent (better than some foods for sure) but that is proof enough for me.
