Yes, Annie can apply for a Pet Passport (with help from her foster mum)

If I am reading the website correctly, Annie would need to get 2 blood tests 6 months apart but still wait ANOTHER 6 months to come to England. Am I reading that correctly??

Six Months: If the blood test comes saying you cat has the correct level of immunity against rabies, you must wait six months from the time the blood sample was taken.

Blood test now and you will get a form in the post saying Annie is free of rabies.
You will wait 6 months and get her retested and you will get another clear form. She can fly the next day as long as the second test is clear.

The reason for the wait is if a cat had been infected just before the first test the first blood test might come back negative, but the cats second test 6 months later would show the rabies.

This is so sweet! An international pet adoption! I remember dear little Gabe's PT-arranged adoption, although on a much less grand scale, having just gone from South Jersey to Vermont. Oh, I just remembered that Lily was a successful international adoption, traveling from Texas to Canada! Gosh this is fun!

In Annie's case Jen, you might want to give her a couple of lessons working on "proper meows"; after all we Americans have butchered the language somewhat and we do want her to make a good impression when she meets up with PIF's herd! Fingers cross that this can all work out!

    My breeder ships to England

The breeder I use for my Abbys has shipped to England - just last week as a matter of fact. I remember she said that it was a bit of a wait and that she was housing a male Aby for months until he was cleared to ship to England. If you want me to contact her, or if you want to contact her...... [email protected] I suspect she will give you the low down.

Oh that would be great. If you could let her know that I (and/or Jenny) will be contacting her, it won't come as such a surpise getting strange e-mail.

I will but you can too. Two heads are better than one and you might get something out of a conversation that I don't.

    Mindy and Dave

The Highgait folks are Mindy and Dave. They breed Abys only. They are home breeders and ship to foreign countries including Russia. Dave is retired and handling most of the paperwork and arrangements and Mindy works days and Mommies' the kitties in the evenings and in her spare time. Both Mindy and Dave are wonderul people and upfront and interesting - much more than just those few words, but good folks no matter how you look at them!

They also know me as Sallyanne - and I email with them often.
    I consider them my friends.

That as far as I can see , would be the only Fly In the Ointment. There is a six month wait here , or In England . I wish I could help , but Horace , the Miane Coon Stray figures to be expensive , and sadly, I need insulin!

What a wonderful idea! And a "grey tabby" would definately compliment your existing herd.

Jen, I'll help out with however much I can afford when the time comes - hopefully I'll have a full time job by then!

Thanks Kay for my great sig & avatar!!!
