I have a one year old indoor only male cat, Junior, who has this same problem off and on (or I should say...*I* have this problem!). He was neutered at an early age - 4 months - so he never had a chance to learn the facts of life.![]()
When he first started it, I took him to the vet and had a urinalysis to rule out UTI. Apparently, his problem is behavioral in nature since all tests were negative twice. Our vet gave us the option of just dealing with it or trying a medication. We opted for the medication called Ovaban, which is basically a hormonal steroid-type medication. It worked! (One possible side-effect of this medication though is diabetes, so beware. The diabetes will disappear upon discontinuation of the medication though.)
Oh, BTW, I think the name of the product that someone mentioned earlier is probably Feliway. Its a pheremone-type friendly spray that discourages spraying. Its very costly though.
