You're getting a bird?!?! Yippee!!!!

What kind of bird are you thinking on? Pretty much all parrots can learn to talk.........even parakeets, but it depends on the bird and there's no guarantee on that. Male cockatiels do talk often, but again, not *all* of them do. Pretty much all of them can learn to whistle though. In the smaller/less expensive birds, I think conures talk more commonly.
