Because cross-posting creates bandwith, which costs to have. Us cross posting costs them.

As for me not caring about losing my pictures, its a lesson I learned long ago in art school... never ever have your photos or artwork located on one source, always have at least one backup (I happen to have three including imagestation - 4 if you count hard copies on paper.) This unfortunately is a lesson learned the hard way... so those of you that DO have your images stored on a site without backup at home, consider making it.
