    Not sure who is sweeter.....

Hallie is very mischevious! She thinks anyone who comes over is there just for her. She hasn't met a stranger, although she stays away from my brother-in-law who HATES animals.

Blackjack was very standoffish when there was more than one person around. But if you were alone he'd be your best buddy...

Hey all! I've been away for a while as I've been real busy at work.

    Define "sweet".

My boy cat Lamoni is affectionate but won't set in the lap or sleep on the bed with both mommy and daddy. Fifi never comes out with some one new in the house but will sit in our laps and sleep between our pillows at night.

Fifi is fun and playful and will chase Lamoni. Lamoni is playful and will horn in when I try to play with Fifi using her toy. When he comes in she slinks off with her tail dragging.

Lamoni has about the kindest disposition of any animal that I have ever met. He probably is sweeter. Both of them make my heart race with joy whenever I see them.

But as for sweeter? Well when I kiss them they don't taste sweet to me.

    I's a joke!

How on Earth did I miss this thread? Anyway, I've never had a famale cat, so based on my experience, male cats are the sweetest!

I've never had a female based on the common belief male cats are sweeter. My Aunt Janet once had a female Persian and she was the MEANEST thing you'll ever meet. However, my brother's Sophie is a doll... if you ever get to see her (she's afraid of strangers.) My sister-in-law has a sweet white kitty that pretty much takes anything the kids dish out.

    maleorfemale, who is sweeter

My husband and I have owned both sexes. I would say females are much sweeter. The female I own right now loves brushing. She will purr and raise her haunches up when I brush her.

I have had two males with bad personalities.

I have 7 cats and all but 1 is sweet, Scampers (female) is the true "essence of cat"- fat, lazy, and a total snob. The other 6 are 3 girls and 3 boys, and all sooo sweet. I really can't answer the question, except my orange tabby, Jimmy (a male) is probably the most sweet. however, as I'm typing my maine coon, Raisin (female), just jumped on my lap. My answer is it depends on the cat and its breed.

    Mycats

I know what you meen I have four cats and one of them is a total angeldevel. I always tell my friends to be NICE to Coco. But they usually like to make her mad. I also have a cute named Cubby who loves me, and i love him. My other cat, Nikka, is afraid of EVERYTHING. But she's getting better. My last cat, Jack, has been havin' some spraying problems, but overall he is very sweet, and there is this look in his eyes that seems to see right through sometimes.

I used to think males were the sweeter of the two sexes, but little miss Shaedi has gotten me wondering about that. They don't get much cuddlier than her. I'm of the mind now that its an individual personality thing rather than a gender thing

This thread seems to be VERY popular! Been following it from the beginning. I'm old enough to have had many cats. I am thinking that although I "connect" emotionally with my girl cats (like girlfriends almost) they are pretty particular about who else they want to be friends with and that includes other cats. My male cats have always been the most dependent and perhaps that is why they appear to be sweeter. Quite loving and docile and ready to please. The girls have their own agenda and so it should be. LOL!!!!

    my best friend

    Hi,

My sweet Julie the Calico Princess is the only cat I have ever actually "had", as opposed to just feeding them on the front stoop and seeing them for a few months before they disappear.

Julie is an extremely sweet creature. She was an adult stray who was abandoned by some people in the neighborhood over eight years ago. At first she was very needy and clingy, almost to the point that I did not think I could handle her! I was that close to taking her to the pound....and boy am I glad I didn't!

I was recovering from a severe depression at the time, and she was just what the doctor ordered. We were both neurotic and lonely, but over the years have both come to feel a whole lot better. Julie used to swat and bite "out of nowhere", like I have read about other cats doing. But she has pretty well dropped this behavior. I think it is because I have learned just how to stroke her without annoying her, and how to read her signals that she is ready for me to stop.

She is often on my lap or in my bed, especially when it's cold! I have noticed as she has gotten older, she is not as likely to spend long times in my lap, but she still needs my loving and certainly misses me when I am gone. She never does like being picked up, which is only a problem when it's time for the vet...and she will sometimes fight me for the bedclothes. But I have learned to get the catnip out and put it on another part of the bed, when Julie is lying on the top of the sheets and I need to get into bed. That always gets her to move out of my way!

I tend to want to get another female when, God forbid, Julie leaves me, because she has been so dainty and feminine and such a sweet little angel. In some ways, like one person said, she has been like a best girlfriend to me. I treat her like an equal or a roommate, not as an animal. She's not "just" an animal...she is a furperson!

One factor that may play a role--many people who have written in have multicat households. I have resisted bringing in any other cats, and this may have helped cement the bond between Julie and me, which seems to grow deeper with every passing year.

    Take care,
    MARTHA and Chloe

Fairlady what a lovely story of you and beautiful little Julie. It tells a story of two in need of one another. You matched perfectly. You said sometimes she would "swat and bite" out of nowhere. Well isn't that exactly what some of us humans do in a depressive state? I know that I have done that and then felt sorry.

You say you don't want to get another cat while you still have your Julie, but I can't help thinking that it would be such a good thing. I don't think anything at all would disrupt the bond you have with this little girl. And she may just love having a sibling. It would open up doors and windows and feelings of love that could go to the moon. But of course you know best the deep feelings that you would have to consider.

    Thanks for your story....

i used to live with both (5 female and 2 male) and the males were the ones always looking for a caress, hugs, laps, belly rubs, etc, on this subject the male ones were tiredless.
The boy were always by my side, like a shadow.

    Male or Female?

I know what you mean! Our cat Coco can be sooo lovable, but than she'll bite and scratch if she wants, or if she's mad. Actually, it is usualy Cubby and Jack(male) who are usually lovable, and have never tried to intentionally hurt us. Our 2 female cats can be nice, but they have a mean streak.

I have two cats, Katie and Simba. I think male cat's are sweeter, Simba is much more loveable than Katie. Also Simba will go to just about anyone for loving and Katie will only come to me.
