I think it depends on how expensive your vet is and you can probably have it done at the Humane Society for less money. I think my current vet charges about $65.00 but I could be wrong. When I adopted Sunny almost 3 years ago, I think I paid between $35-45. I think it's well worth it for indoor cats. More places are using the scanners to detect microchips on lost pets.
