You mentioned that Jake is a gray tabby, so if my Lily looks anything like him, maybe this picture will cheer you and bring back fond memories. She is "helping" to make the bed, and the shirt on the bedpost says "Have A Mice Day" and is a special made-for-cats shirt, but she refuses to wear it, even years ago back when it still fit her! Lily is quite a bit older than Jake:
