It really depends on the dog, frankly.
Some poor pooches in shelters and rescues are lucky to get ever get one person interested in them, that meets our criteria. In that case, then yes, the home visit is the last step, pretty much.
However, if it is a dog that has several good applications on him, and many people wanting him, then we do home visits on several people, to help narrow down the choices.
"We give dogs the time we can spare, the space we can spare and the love we can spare. And in return, dogs give us their all. It's the best deal man has ever made" - M. Facklam
"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien
