Pam...So sorry about Crypto! Oh, you must have felt so bad. But they seem to be very sensitive to temp. changes. That's been my fear since I got the Squeeker Man. I read so many horror stories of piggies passing because they were left in an area too cold, drafty, hot, sunlight etc!! I'm always moving his cage depending on the weather! His cage is actually a critter cage. The bottom does look like a large litterbox; it's much higher and bigger. It has a clip on cage part with a lid that you can unhinge from the top, or you can unclip the whole cage part. I never let him out with the dogs and cats around. But they love watching him and laying by him! Especially my kitty Oliver. They are in love! Oliver purrrrrs and lays on his back, feet in the air; Mr. Squeeks wheeeeeeeks away! It's really cute! Sorry to blab on!
