Trevor is the first cat I ever owned. He was picked out by my son's best friend to be a "new cat" for his grandmother because her cat had just died. The grandmother didn't want another cat so instead of returning him to the pet store my son decided to bring him home. He smuggled him into the house that night (complete with litter box and litter) and put him in his room. In the morning when I went into his room to wake him up for school a teeny tiny little orange fluff ball walked down the bed to meow at me. I fell in love! There was no need for my son to ask if we could keep him!
Andy was found by my mom. She lives an hour from me and was at her friend's yard sale one day. The woman across the street came to the sale with two kittens under her arms. She asked if anyone would like one of them (the other one was spoken for). My mom said "just give me time to call my daughter." She ran home and called me and begged me to ride down to see him. Of course I couldn't resist. He was a tiny one pound ball of white fluff and again I was hooked! Needless to say he rode home with us that day!
Neither one of my cats was planned but I think sometimes that's the best way!
