I have been reading this thread with interest. LOL! The only way to know for sure if you have a Maine Coon, Ocicat, Ragdoll,
Abby, Persian, Pixie Bob or what ever breed is to have a pedigree. And the cat is registered in one of the cat registries. Such as CFA, TICA, ACFA, ect.
Next all cats may have a trait of a purebred cat. A short hair could have the coloring of an Abby or a british short hair. One may have the body type of an Ocicat. One the coat of a Maine Coon. Every and all cats DLH and DSH have some thing about them that looks like a purebreed cat. But with out a pedigree they are a " looks like" or a "Want to Be". As for the first cat that was a pet was no pedigreed cat.
Even in the Maine Coon breed the body type, head type, ear set, muzzle, coat, tail, are all the same in any registry but like in CFA they like the sweeter look, and in TICA they tend toward the more feral look in the face. But all the other standards are the same. You can go to CFA.org and read about the breed and the standards for each breed and how they are judged.
