There is a fleecy back to the bed too, its basically a metal frame and the cover comes off/on so you can wash it. It says that its takes cats up to 20lbs but my RB Jock was 15lbs and I think it would of struggled to hold him, I can just imagine if he was still about the two of them trying to snuggle up on it, it would of pulled my radiator off the wall, I would of had to buy 2 new beds but even then they preffered to snuggle up together !!!
