Some cats are VERY particular about how fresh their water is, aren't they! I have an aunt whose cat will only drink out of the faucet, so she turns it on for her every now and then or leaves it dripping. Another--cheaper--solution I've also heard is that a nonplastic dish keeps the water tasting fresher.

We leave our bathroom doors shut so we don't deal with the toilet and tub problem, but Checkers likes to drink out of pans soaking in the kitchen sink! He also likes to "bob" for oatmeal... we tried to train him to stay off the counter but he still does it surreptitiously.

Thankfully he'll drink water from his dish or the dog's, although he vastly prefers to drink his when it's just been filled. That's when he guzzles it down. I don't know why he'll drink the dog's when the dog makes it so scummy...
