My mom always told me- still tells me- that a person will only achieve what they allow themselves to believe they can achieve. So she said if all I wanted to do is pass, then that is what I would do. But if I told myself I could make A's and go to college and have a career as a successful member of society- then I could do that too. And just in case I decided I only wanted to pass, she told me she'd kick my ass and I'd never leave the house if I didn't make A's!
