I had a pretty good Christmas today, I got to see all my grandchildren, had all my kids home except my son, but he had to go to Memphis today.

But it was so much fun watching my grandchildren opening their presents today. My daughter bought me a dvd player, I have been wanting one for a long time.

The funny thing is that this was Grover first Christmas, and we didn't put the tree up until Christmas eve night. She was after the tree last night trying to take the decorations off the tree, and finally this morning she knocked the tree down and broke it. She look, so funny crawling out from under the tree. She doesn't want around the tree that much now.

It sure was a busy day for me, I am glad it is over!!! Hope everybody had a Merry Christmas!!

    Tray

Thank You, kittycats_delight for my new siggy!!!

Richard, you mentioned cranberry cornbread. That sounds really good. Can you put the recipe here?

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.
    [/SIZE]

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Corinna - your family story is very touching.

What a generous thing to do - sacrifice his guitar for your daughter's car repairs.........

What a generous thing to do - years later, track the guitar down and give it back to him............

    What goes around comes around..........

You must be so very proud of your family and well you should be.

What a memorable Christmas for you all.

Merry Christmas everyone! My Christmas was....well......let's just say that I need drink please. Anything tall and strong.

    Laurie,
I'd offer you a buttered nipple but.......
I think I'm not even gonna try.

    Buttery Nipple

1/2 oz. each; Butterscotch Schnapps & Baileys

Layer in exact order into a Pony or Shot glass

p.s. How do you know that mopped flour turns to paste????

    Slick,

My first bike was WAY to big for me and the first time I rode it I hit the fence...thank god the driveway broke my fall...
I'm doing a bloody mary this morning, is that o.k.?

    Corrina,
    That's a great story....

    Tray,
I hope that grover and gravity become friends!!

    DDM,

Ahem, I'll give you the recipe......

Open box, add 1/3 cup of milk and one egg, beat and pour into greased colbalt blue 9x9 dish....

I'm sorry, You HAVE to remember-I AM MAN....

I'll get the name of the maker of the mix..
    sorry!

    Pam,
Coffee and bananas??? At the same time!
Funny, when we look over over shoulder we see
things that makes us laugh for some many years later!

    MM,

Put your feet up AND let the belt loose-hope you had a good one....Of course your Xmas starts and ends earlier than ours..

    Gini,

Should you go out today check out the scenery....
It's sooooo clear and crisp outside....

A BM suits me fine Richard. You will have to excuse me, but I stay away from any drink that mentions body parts!!! I've got some socializing to do today then home for the evening to ....guess what..... wrap more presents. I've got another gift opening to attend tomorrow night.

And the weather here has been beautiful. Yesterday was sunny with a few black clouds hanging over and today is the same. High of 7 deg cel. It's still shorts weather as far as I'm concerned.

Richard, I have been outside - and you are right. It is an amazingly beautiful, clear, crisp So. Calif. day. It rained all day yesterday and hard. Last night as my brother's family packed up to go home - we could see stars in the sky. When you live in the heart of Los Angeles with smog and all of the lights - you usually don't get to see that many.

Christmas Day was just perfect. As in many a family, you cannot always say that - sometimes there are just "bumps" in the day that you wish hadn't happened. Yesterday there were none!

My little niece loved her train. I had put it up in my little den and closed the doors. She couldn't get in and we told her there was a surprise behind the door. Finally we let her in and she just sat there and watched it and watched it - very quietly - when it had gone around the track once, I showed her how to start it up again. Good thing I had AAA batteries on hand - we already went through the first set that came with the train.

My older niece refined the train, adding all of the goodies that I had skipped after putting it together.....and everything works.

My sister in law completely cleaned my kitchen - putting everything away. Boy, this morning I was ready to kiss her all over again!

So it was a HAPPY DAY - the way I always dream that they should be and I am very grateful.

Yesterday I had eggnog - nary a drop of alcohol in it.........

So today - well, I don't think I can handle one of those nipple things quite so early - maybe a good, strong Bloody Mary....sounds perfect.

More family arriving today........my older brother from Brazil. Let the partying begin.......again.

Oh and Richard, please give everyone a round of drinks - on me!

Which reminds me, as bookkeeper of the bar, I will give everyone their tabs at the end of the year. I know that you need to take an inventory and then re-stock the bar.

A good BM to start the day........

    DONE!!!!!!!!

    Thanks Gini...

I can only count to 21.......

One xmas that stands out for me is when I was 9, we lived in our family built bungalow in the vally over looking a very large river.
I got a fluffy lion that roared when I stroked it, but it broke the same day, I was upset so mum was like we'll take it back and get another one, I was like ok but it has to be the same one, me having a very short memorey (still have) forgot, till like a month later I saw a photo of me holding it on xmas morning, and i never got another one!

So to forget the dissapointment I'll have a double Vodka and a pint of Calsberg, Rio will have some kitty milk, thank you
    Ky and Rio
Ky = Me, Rio, the new addition Donnie and Tia (the fuzzy ferts) = My Love My Life My All.

One of the loveliest Christmas vignettes I can think f happened years ago, probably in the early 1990's, I am not terribly sure of the exact year.

At that time, my Methodist church had a pastor who had grown up in a tight-knit Polish Catholic community in Pennsylania coal-mining country. He became Methodist, but still loved the "midnight Mass" tradition for Christmas Eve. The organist was given the night off, so he always had to arrange some other music for the small, sparsely attended service.

In our church was Araxi, an old woman of unknown age who was an Armenia orphaned by the Turks. She was discovered by the Arax River, and named for it. She still sang, well into old age, in a clear. piping soprano. That year we also had a Pastor-Intern, Rich. He played the guitar, and was the son of a Peruvian mother and an American defence-contractor father. There was MaryEllen, a beginning cellist in her middle-aged years. And there was me. We were to be the music for the evening.

At the proper time in the service, Mary Ellen and Rich played cello and guitar respectively, and accompanied Araxi as she sang the first verse of "Silent Night" in Armenian. I then sang a verse in the original German (learned for that night), Rich sang a verse in Spanish, then, with Mary Ellen, we all sang the last verse in English, in 4-part harmony.

It was sweet, mellow, acoustic, multi-cultural before that term being main-stream and overused, and in the dark of a small chapel in cold December, something that wrote itself onto my heart forever.

    Sleep in heavenly peace.

    Is the bar still open?????

If so, I'd like a Blackberry Tea with a shot of Baileys please.

We got our first snowfall today. Ok, so it's only about 3-5 cm but still, it's a lot for the Lower Mainland and they are calling for more tonight. I was supposed to go out tonight, but I think I just stay by the fire and cuddle up with the furbabies and my Pet Talk friends.

Shhhhh, don't tell anyone, but I've got a 4-wheel drive and still don't drive in the snow.....
