That is such a sweet story! I also think it's just wonderful that your dog welcomed the new kitten with open paws. I don't believe it is all that unusual for a dog and a cat to become close. It's not odd, although I understand it's not extremely common! Yes, you definitely have to post a photo of the two of them together--I know it would melt my heart. I'm envious that your two pets became friends so quickly. I wish my first and second cat would get over their differences once and for all and become buddies! You are a good person to have brought the little kitty into your home. I'm so happy for you, and for Scruffy and Willow!
