I think it'll be a good idea to kennel Conner until you return. Your kitty sitter may not be as diligent as you'd like and Conner could get out.

I'm so sorry Conner isn't cooperating. Don't feel bad though. Did you ever read about my Oliver? I'll find that thread and post it here. Sometimes, certain kitties just wont mix.
