Can you explain this to me? More responsible breeders don't have several pairs of dogs that they breed together. In fact if they own a stud dog, they rarely use him on their bitches, instead going to someone else to try and bring different blood lines to their dogs. Of course I may have read what you wrote the wrong way

I mean that they shouldn't be breeding the same pair again and again. They should have more than one female and one male. They need to create a winder range of genes (I was considering some shiloh breeders in BC, but changed my mind when I found out that they only have three dogs and don't breed their female with dogs from other breeders, only their two males).

A regular vet check, to make sure that everything is in tip top shape. If not twice a year, atleast once would be good. I'm not even a breeder, and my dog will be checked twice a year if not more.

That's too bad. It's one of the highest percent chances of a dog getting cancer that I'v eever heard of, so wanted to look into it further.

He checks the heartbeat and the breathing and eyes and ears and feels the body for anything odd, etc. Just what a doctor does for a human checkup. I know this is something you can obviously do yourself, but it's great to have a more professional opinion rather than just doing everyhting yourself.

What kind of show dog? You can't show her in conformation if you spay her. I'd reccomend agility, flyball, herding, flying disc, or obedience. Aussies are great at those.

Yep, Aussies are great at those sports, and no, you cannot show a spayed dog in conformation.

Well they do have an altered conformation class for those who want to do it for fun. I'm not sure how they work or how popular they are. Also since she is young she may want to get into Jr. Handling, which is all about learning how to show a dog properly, and for that the dog doesn't have to be intact.
But you're also right in that aussies are great at all the other sports you mentioned!! Lots of fun to be had by all!!

I went for many job shadows at the local vets and I asked them that very same question, why is the percentage so high if you dont spay your dog befor its first heat?? the vet stated that the dog will be 70% more likely to get cancer later in life.. What better proof, then a vet telling me??

That's nice that the vet said that, but I'd still like some proof in the form of statistics. Vets are still people, and people all have their own opinions. You can ask ten different vets and get ten different answers.

I think some hurt feelings are better than homeless puppies. But I agree the spelling correction was unnessecary, and in my opinion, just rude. Having friends with dyslexia, illiteracy, and friends who have just plain battled reading and spelling their whole lives, I can definatly sympathize and empathize.
