I was gone for a while so I didn't read it either.

But when I took Katie in to be spayed, the vet asked if I wanted her declawed. I was offended. I said "Of course not! That's cruel!"

The vet became offended by my comment and said "Often it's a choice between declawing a cat and finding a new home for her. Declawing is the lesser of the two evils." I guess she was right about that.

All pet decisions must be made in the context of the situation.
