An interesting question.. In the movie "Angel Heart" it was mentioned that some religions use the egg as a symbol for the soul.
Creatures were laying eggs millions of years before there were chickens.
The first chicken hatched in a nest of similar birds and was raised like the swan in the "ugly duckling" story.
Popcorn- It is not a choice between religion and science. Personal beliefs come from a melding of seemingly contradictory evidence. You are the Crown of Creation!
