I wanted to post something yesterday but somehow I couldn't get through, so here goes...
That picture of Smudge is absolutely classic. Nowhere can you find a snapshot that tells it all...how great it is to be a cat in a loving home! Like Spencer said, props to the Marines for finding a home for li'l Smudgie, and there are so many homeless pets in our bases. I remember the time I was assigned at Vandenberg AFB in California. I had to go to the firing range situated way out in the boonies in order to get my M16 certification. Guess who would come out to greet a busload of unmotivated airmen but a friendly black and grey tabby cat that hung out next to the storage shed where the guns and ammo were kept! Although it appears that the cat was living out in the wild, it was in fact fed regularly by the sargeants that supervise the firing range. I wish I had a camera to take that kitty's picture then! That was a bright spot in an otherwise ordinary day and one of the nicest memories I have of that base.
