In June I took Keegan to the vet b/c she had a scaly bald patch on her back. At first we attributed it allergies, but since she is heavy and HYPER (every active) the vet was watching/observing her and he said "Can I run a thyroid?" I was like "sure" thinking "Yea I would like to say I have a thyroid problem too, but I can't so I am sure her's is normal" Sure enough it was low. At first she was on one pill a day then she had a relapse with the hair falling out so then she was on 2 pills a day, now she has no trouble at all with the hair/skin/coat, but the levels showed that it was low.
I know that Amy had Cincy's vet check her thyroid and it took a couple weeks to get the results, but my vet runs it in their office and I got the results in less than 20 min.
Amy,
Yea it would fun if we lived closer not just for the doggie weight loss thing!!!![]()
I have basically just cut her food in about half. She only gets 2 - 2 1/2 cups a day, and I make sure that she chases her tennis ball for about 20 min at least everyday. I can definately tell when she doesn't get to do it now, b/c she is NUTS when I come home from work!!!
My neighbor told me last night that Keegan looks so much better after losing her weight and I said "well she has only lost a pound'' and she said "really she looks like she has lost more than that!"
Apparently, she is just toned up!Maybe she has lost inches and not weight!!!
