Imagine my surprise and shock when Logan dashed out the front door 2x in one day! I had never had a problem with Cody so I think I just stood at the door frozen in terror! In the morning, of course I had to be somewhere and was dressed up and it was monsoon rain, she just very quickly and delicately slipped by me as I opened the screen door! I knew she'd be at the schoolyard up the street, as she remembered it was "squirrel heaven" Unfortunately, like Cody, I did not collar her in the house (that's changed for sure!) I finally stood still, called her happily to come, and she came running to me and stopped. What luck is that?? Problem is, she has a history of being teased and dislikes kids, so it was a blessing that it was raining. That afternoon, no rain, the neighbor comes over and before I could yell "NO!" swings open the screen door and out runs my little imp to the house before the school, which also has squirrels. Two joggers tried to get her, my poor, crying neighbor is attempung to leash her, I'm trying to remain calm and cheerful, but everytime we rounded one side of the huge tree trunk, she outwitted us and ran around the other. This went on for 10 minutes and if I wasn't so upset, I'd laugh..it really was comical. Thank God for pooping! I was finally able to leash her. No problems since, but I'm sure she would have scared the crap out of the kids. People are really quick to report this stuff to authorities. I wrangled up a Mastiff and a Chow on our block with treats and a leash and walked around until the owners came by in their cars. I took a chance but was lucky. The neighbors, both times, called me, so I felt important that they thought I'd know what to do.
