Exactly. I'm asked *all* the time, whenever my family gets together; do you have a boyfriend?! Don't try to "fit in" by drinking/doing drugs...try hard in school, don't be a dropout!

HELLO?! I know all of that! I wouldn't even think of doing those things anyway.

Sometimes I just wish my family would trust me, and let me live my own life.

    Oh, another confession...

I have a phobia of strange dogs (you know, strays, and ones I don't know personally) of the following breeds: Rottweiler, German Shepherd, and Dalmatian. I have no idea why! I just feel so uneasy around them! (Incidently, I will walk up to a pit bull almost anywhere and give him a good pet. Same goes for all other breeds... Yeah, it's not logical. Guess that's why they call it a phobia.)

No other animal bothers me. Snakes, spiders, "rodents" (ah! so scary! LOL!), wolves (I've met a couple up close. They are awesome), bugs... you name it.

Yeah, I don't think anyone should have to feel ashamed or embarassed about your lifestyle. As long as you don't go overboard or hurt yourself. It's tough being a teenager no matter what you do! (I am glad to be done with it... Not that it's AWFUL, but not something I'd want to live over again.)

Agreed. It's wrong to say "not all kids do it because so-and-so doesn't do it, and this person doesn't do it." You have to think in facts, not personal; preference. Statistically speaking, most kids will experiment with alcohol.

    More confessions...

*When I was little, both my parents smoked, so I thought smoking was cool. I remember when I was three, and my dad was smoking on the porch, and I asked him for a smoke. He warned me, and I said I wanted one. I love that he wanted me to learn from experience. So he lit one up and gave it to me and I put it in my mouth...and didn't do anything...I thought it was so pointless after that, and still do. Some people may say that it was cruel for him to do that, but I think that it was great for him to teach me that way.

*I've gone on dates, and have had (the 9th grade version of ) boyfriends, but I've never been kissed.

*I HATE the light. I can't stand seeing light under my door at night, I hate having the lights on when I'm watching TV...I hate it lol.

Tonya, I'm sorry that your were raped. I probably shouldn't say much, but since this is the confession thread...I know how you feel.

First off, Tonya and Wolfsoul, I am so sorry about your experiences, but admire the courage it takes to mention your experiences so that others can learn and/or do not feel alone.

I'm also an in the closet PTer. Only the hubby knows (I hope) and he thinks it's weird.

I cannot fall asleep unless I am wearing ear plugs and my knit cap to block out any morning light. Seriously, it ain't pretty. Hubby refers to me as a homeless person in the mornings. He ain't far off.

Bettie LOVES the earplugs. They are her favorite toys. Sometimes I wake up to her with her snout under my cap and in my ear!!

I know there are kids who go around experimenting with everything. No its not *abnormal*, but does that make it right? The younger generation doesn't need encouragement from their elders to go out and try to be drunk, or to smoke, or to do other things that so many kids in our society do today, that its become a norm. You know what? Children who have proper guidance and proper parenting from the start *normally.......there are always exceptions* do not do these things. Really, I have seen this, and its truely a fact. When parents really devote their lives to their kids, it is very common that their kids won't mess around with alcohol, won't smoke, and won't get involved in other things that aren't good for them. Lack of parenting and then peer pressure makes youngsters want to try those things, and we don't need encouragement from people older than us to try those things on top of that. That's why our society isn't in the best shape right now. Parents aren't raising their kids as they should....there's way too much peer pressure, and then we have adults saying its normal and ok for teens to try these things. I don't think so. I think it needs to be discouraged.

Lol. I had ear plugs before...and then my rat Frisco ate them.

    Confessions...

*I can't spend money. It's impossible. I just got $50 for my birthday, and I'm buying one thing off ebay, and saving the rest. I swear I'm not a normal 16 year old.

*I love the adrenaline rushes I get from watching scary movies.

and then we have adults saying its normal and ok for teens to try these things
I think it's perfectly normal. Everyone does something that they know isn't good for them or that they shouldn't do. It's a part of life.

Well, depends on what you define as right. Alcohol and getting drunk don't rate especially high on my immorality meter.

If you pick up any adolescent psychology book you'll notice that teens NEED to break away from their parents. They NEED to develop relationships outside of their home/family. Peer pressure is necessary to overcome. Some people fall for it more than other.

You should come and meet Jada--she will make your fears go away quickly--she'll kiss them away

I'm afraid of the dark too--have to have some sort of light on at night to fall asleep.

I also fall asleep every single night on my couch, crawling up to bed after a "nap"

    Another sleeping confession --

I CAN'T sleep without my fan on. No matter how "cold" it is, although "cold" and Florida don't go together much -- I HAVE ot have it on.

If it's too cold, i'll point in a different direction. I'm so used to the sound of the cieling fan and the little floor fan, I won't let my father greese it if it gets squeeky -- It's what puts me to sleep!

I agree, it'd be great if we were all saints. I think the point is that you aren't a freak if you experiment with alcohol and you aren't a freak if you never have a drink in your life. Everyone is different.

Thanks for the condolences. It was a long time ago and I am ok. I don't like to talk about it, but I just want girls to be aware that things happen when alcohol is involved.

Me either, KFAMR. During the winter, I just point it away from me, but I have to have it on.

Me too! And I can't sleep without the sounds of my rats doing "rat things" (shifting paper, drinking from their bottles, running in their wheel...)

It does get cold here in the WV mountains/hills. Brrr! That's why we have cats--to sleep on our feet!
