Absolutely a dog can be jealous, especially of a newcomer! I would just be sure to let Jeffrey know you still love him every bit as much as ever. We once had a dog who was jealous of anyone getting affection - she wanted some, too! When my sister and I shared the piano bench for piano duets, she would wedge her nose between us so she could share the closeness!
