If someone looked at my cat and commented "Oh, it's only an outdoor cat!" I'd have a hard time restraining myself from swiping my paw at that person's nose! Bad human! Bad! Purebreds are nice to have, and they are perfect for people who have the patience, means and resources to take care of them. But so-called "outdoor cats" have a place in our homes too, and are no less deserving of love and care as are purebred cats. I do have to remind myself that some people will always be label-, status-, or class-conscious and I think it's tragically their loss to judge a pet's merits simply because they don't have papers.
